DAVID JANZEN After a lengthy illness, David Janzen went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Central Park Lodge, 70 Poseidon Bay, at the age of 87 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Tina; sons, Gerald (Cathie) of Calgary, AB, Doug (Carmell) brother Abe (Annie) sister Mary; sisters-in-law, Linda, Betty and Helen; four Kehler stepsons and their families, Bill (Kathy), Larry (Audrey) of Edmonton, AB, Wayne (Colleen) of Drake, SK, Ray (Kathy) five grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his first wife Helen; parents, Frank and Justina. David was born July 17, 1914 in Morden, MB, ninth child in a family of 16. He married Helen Dyck and they moved to Winnipeg. David enjoyed driving truck for Borger Bros., custodian for Fort Garry School Division and building homes of which he built three for his family. In 1987 David moved into Bethel Place. Here he met Tina Kehler and they married October 8, 1988. They had five good years together and were able to travel to Hawaii and Alaska. David suffered many strokes and spent the last eight and one-half years at Central Park Lodge. David loved cars and motorcycles. He was a real enthusiast. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, April 2, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. A family graveside service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service also on Tuesday, April 2, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter Ave. Special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Central Park Lodge for the compassion, care and love shown to us while David was living in Room 504.
