Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS MURRAY BRUCE Douglas Murray Bruce, aged 79 years, of Halifax, died peacefully at the Veterans Memorial Hospital on March 30, 2002 after a lengthy illness. Born in Winnipeg, MB on December 10, 1922. He was predeceased by his father John and mother Rose (Solveson) Bruce; brother John "Jack" Bruce and son Cameron Bruce. He is survived by his loving wife Louise (Mills) Bruce of 55 years; sons, Donald (Sharon), Gordon (Diana), Harry (Beth) and Richard (Coleen) grandchildren, Nathan, Katie, Daniel, David and Cameron, who always brought a smile to his face, all of Halifax. Other surviving relatives are brother Robert (Dorothy) of Halifax; a sister, Catherine, of Kelowna, BC and several nieces and nephews. Douglas was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in the Navy as a leading seaman. He established his own Agency and represented mens and ladies apparel manufacturers throughout Atlantic Canada. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Veterans Memorial Hospital for their dedicated care and compassion for Doug. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Reverend Scott MacIssac officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or the Veterans Memorial Hospital.
