HERMINE LUCILLE HINDS Easter Sunday, March 31, 2002, at the Health Science Centre, Hermine passed away. She was in her 96th year. We thank God for the release of our Mothers earthly body to His care. Hermine was born on July 22, 1906, in Libau, MB. Her parents, John and Kate Drawson, and brother John arrived from Latvia in 1904 settling to farm in the Libau area. She was the youngest of three, her sister Anne was born in Winnipeg. All having predeceased her as had her husband George in 1969. Hermine is survived by her two sons, Reid (Diane) and Don (Beryl) her daughter Beverly (Don) Mackey; ten grandchildren, Russel, Gerry, Shelley, Melodee, Rick, David, Cathy, Karen, Kent, and Shari; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Especially cherished by her loving family. Widowed for over 30 years, she handled everything that came her way with an upbeat approach and ready acceptance, with resolve and resourcefulness. Hermines life was busy and fulfilling, surprising even us when, at age 80, she took up art lessons. We were proud of her lifelong example. Hermine taught school for over 30 years including the rural Manitoba schools of Altamont and Miami. Her last years were spent teaching in the St. James-Assiniboia School Division at Brittania School, retiring in 1969. She was very active in her 18 year stay at the Kiwanis Courts, Ness Avenue, spending time on the council as president and assisting in a majority of the courts activities. The past ten years she has resided in Lions Manor where she also continued to be active. A service in celebration of her life will be held at Lions Manor, Sherbrook and Portage, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 4. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens will take place on Friday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Rus Hinds, David Hinds, Jason Hinds, Ray Guenther, Rob Couper, and Trevor Ellchuck. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hermines name to the charity of choice or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
