PETER SLOBODIAN 1928 - 2002 Peter Slobodian passed away April 1, 2002 at Seven Oaks Hospital after a lengthy illness with leukemia at age 73. He is survived by his loving family, wife Jean of 50 years; one daughter Linda (Gary) Semkiw; one son Alan (Lynne) Slobodian; one granddaughter Lauren Semkiw; four grandsons, Jay Semkiw, Kyle, Shaun and Jarrett Slobodian, all of Winnipeg; one brother John (Kay) Slobodzian of Dauphin; one sister Tillie Potkonjak of Flin Flon and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and nine sisters. Peter was born in Sifton, MB on June 28, 1928. He worked for Bristol Aerospace for 38 years, taking an early retirement. During his retirement he took up woodworking, making many beautiful things for his family. He was a member of Foresters Club 373 for many years. Peter was an avid golfer and excelled at the sport, winning many trophies over the years. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandchildren grow up and attending their numerous activities. The family wishes to thank Dr. D. Miller, Dr. J. Lezack, Seven Oaks Hospital and the Oncology staff for all their care and to Fr. Ray Baudry for coming to see Peter at the hospital. Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 4 at 9:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 264 Donwood Ave., with Rev. Fr. Raymond Baudry officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peters memory to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O.
