MICHAEL SHEWCHUK April 17, 1919 - April 2, 2002 Peacefully with his family by his side, Michael Shewchuk passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his parents, Maria and John; and his brother Bill. He is survived by his loving wife Lydia; brother John (Lena) sister-in-law Mary; his children, Gerry (Annette), Patricia (Richard), Kathleen (Richard), Robert, and Christine (Greg) and grandchildren, Lindsay, Rebecca, Justa and Wesley; stepchildren, Janet (Larry), Glen, Ross (Laverne) and Nelson; and numerous family members. Michael served in the Second World War with PPCLI with the Little Black Devils. He was employed with Manitoba Dairy for over 30 years, retiring in 1978 to spend time at home, enjoying his grandchildren and walking his dog Raven. A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at ICU and Step-down unit A5. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., on Saturday, April 6 with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place on Monday, April 8 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of ones choice.
