ETHEL MILDRED DEACON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ethel Mildred Deacon on Sunday, March 24, 2002 at the Boissevain Health Centre. Ethel is survived by her daughters, Marie Buchanan (Hugh), Mildred Ann Armstrong; grandchildren, Ron Buchanan (Debbie), Cheryl Cathers (Wayne), Michael Armstrong (Kelly), and Kelly Armstrong; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas Buchanan, David and Erin Cathers, and Caitlin Armstrong; brother Walter Zeiler; sister-in-law Mildred Hammond and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice; parents Mary and Robert Zeiler; brothers, Elza, Harry, Robert and Roy; sisters, Alice, Mary, Bertha; daughter Etta May; and grandson Kevin Buchanan. Ethel was born on December 19, 1919 at Bottineau, ND and lived just across the border on a farm in Canada. She attended school at Desford. She married Maurice Deacon on October 25, 1938 and worked alongside him on the family farm southeast of Boissevain. Her first priority was her family and she enjoyed her garden. She was active in the community and taught Sunday School at Horton. After they retired to Boissevain in 1976 they enjoyed some travelling and many camping trips. They purchased their cabin in 1988 and always looked forward to the summers at Lake Bower. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthews Anglican Church in Boissevain with Father Larry Winslow officiating. Interment in Boissevain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or the charity of ones choice. Killarney and Boissevain Funeral Homes Ltd. in care of arrangements.
