Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON SIMPSON NICOL With great sadness, we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Gordon Nicol on Thursday, April 4, 2002. He will be sadly missed by his wife Tilly of 55 years; his son David; cherished grandchildren, Scott and Melissa; sisters-in-law, Irene and Alma (Reg), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Euphamia and John, five brothers and special daughter-in-law Susan. Dad joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940 and served as a flight mechanic in the 427 squadron. On his return to Canada he married Tilly, the girl next door. For several years he worked with the British American Oil Company, before joining the Winnipeg School Board as a custodian until his retirement. The one thing he loved most in life was telling stories and visiting with people. Throughout his life, Dad enjoyed travelling and spending leisurely summers at the cottage with his family. He was an avid bowler and curler, and was a season ticket holder of the Blue Bombers for over 50 years. He also was a strong supporter of the Jets and the Moose. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. with Pastor D. Lowe officiating. Viewing will be one half hour prior to service. Interment to follow in Waverley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Gordons memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2 or to a charity of your choice. Dad and Grandpa, You never failed to do your best, Your heart was true and tender. You lived your life for those you loved, And those you love, remember.
