BERTHA GELLER (nee COOPERBAND) With sadness we announce the passing of Bertha Geller at the age of 95, on April 6, 2002, with family at her side. Bertha was predeceased by her husband Philip Geller; children, Manly Geller and Carole Geller; and grandchildren, David Marcoe and Wendy Geller. She will be missed by her daughter Sandra Marcoe of Houston; sister Mary Rusen; daughter-in-law Maxine Geller; grandchildren, Karen Solomon, Peter Geller and Pam Logan, Howard Fogel and Sara Rusen, Earl Fogel and Darlene Fichter, Gary and Faith Marcoe, and Shelley Marcoe; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Micaela Solomon; Alexander and Philip Geller, Benjamin and Hannah Fogel, Julie and Alan Fogel, and David and Matthew Marcoe, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bertha was born in Russia on April 15, 1906 and immigrated to Canada as a child, spending most of her life in Winnipeg. She was known for her athletic abilities throughout her life. She enjoyed golfing, badminton, walking and playing bridge with her friends. Bertha married Philip Geller in 1926. Together they were involved in the community in many ways; they were founding members of the Rosh Pina Synagogue. Bertha was an active member of Hadassah Wizo. She was devoted to her husband and her family, lavishing them with love, affection and good cooking. She will be remembered for her warmth and her positive outlook on life, overcoming many losses. Baba Berthas greatest joy was her grandchildren and in later years her great-grandchildren. Funeral services took place at the Rosh Pina Synagogue with interment at the Rosh Pina Memorial Park on April 7. Memorial donations may be made to the Sharon Home Spiritual Care Fund of Winnipeg or to the charity of your choice.
