Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS CAMERON It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Douglas Cameron at the age of 81. He passed away at the Grace Hospital on Friday, April 5, 2002, surrounded by his family. His memory is cherished by his wife, Joyce (nee Airey) daughter Alice Mary (Colin Russell) son Randy; grandchildren, Cameron and Kayleigh; nephew Graham Cameron (Diane, Jackson and Hannah) and niece Belle Cameron, all of Winnipeg, and by numerous other loving relatives in Winnipeg, Calgary, Indiana and Scotland. He was predeceased by his parents, Randolph and Mary Ann Cameron; brother Ronald Cameron; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Cameron. Doug was born in the old Grace Hospital on May 1, 1920. He lived all of his life in St. James, except for five years spent in service with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He worked as a draftsman for 37 years, retiring in 1985. Doug maintained an active lifestyle until recently, and enjoyed his retirement playing golf, jogging, and travelling, including yearly trips to visit his brother-in-law and family in Indiana. Leisure time spent with family, particularly at the cottage at Victoria Beach, was his greatest pleasure. He never missed a music recital or hockey game involving his family. Doug was able to make or fix anything, and always ensured that any job was done well. Bottle lamps and hockey stick chairs were among his specialties! He was a member of Sturgeon Creek United Church since the early 1930s, and continued an active role until curtailed by health problems. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Dr., on Wednesday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. Special thanks to family and friends for their support throughout our difficult time, and to the staff of 3 North at the Grace Hospital for their care during Dougs final days. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Dougs memory may be made to Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3E2, or to a charity of their choice.
