ANDRE FILLION 1912 - 2002 On Saturday, April 6, 2002, at the age of 90 years, Andre passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Foyer Valade. Andre was predeceased by his wife Anne-Marie (nee Berard) on May 7, 1992. He leaves to cherish his memory his 11 children, Gilbert and wife Roxanne (Coates), Philippe and wife Angeline (Pelletier), Bernard and wife Doris (Barnabe), Agnes and husband Philippe Pelletier, Leon and wife Louise (Chartier), Yolande (Felix Grenier - deceased), Edmond and wife Denise (Vandevelde), Irene and husband Pierre Chartier, Roger and wife Rhonda (Wessel), Cheyenna Wolf (nee Jeanne Fillion), and Denise and husband Richard Berthelette; as well as 44 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister Rose-Alba Bissonnette; four sisters-in-law, Jeanne Lamarre, Irene Berard, Rose Fillion, and Lorraine Berard; and three brothers-in-law, Paul Duval, Eddy Lamarre, and Andre Dionne. Andre married Anne-Marie on June 1, 1938. He owned and operated a mixed farm until he retired in 1971. He lived in the town of St. Jean Baptiste from 1975 until 1998, when he was accepted at the Foyer Valade. Andre was always a hard worker, an avid gardener, and he loved raising cattle, hogs, chickens, and horses. He had a good sense of humour, and loved to tease the kids and play cards; especially cribbage, casino, and canasta, up to his final days. We were all happy in spite of the heavy physical labour and hardships. Andre loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved entertaining and enjoyed having house parties with friends and family. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Foyer Valade for all the kindness, special care, and compassion given to Dad throughout his stay, and especially during his final days. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church.
