Date of Passing: Apr 05, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN VICTOR PAISLEY Peacefully, at the Misericordia Care Centre on April 5, Norman Victor Paisley passed away at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his loving family who knew and loved him as "Pop", most of all by his beloved wife of 54 years, Betty; his daughter Barbara (Phil) sons, Norman (Laura), Thomas (Lorna), and Brian (Debbie) 15 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren; brother Bert (Louise) sisters, Elsie and Irene (Jim) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was a much-loved husband, father, and friend. He was born in Winnipeg and resided for most of his life in the north end. He was a Second World War veteran who served in the Navy and a proud member of Team Manitoba at the Western Canada Summer Games in which he won the silver medal in marksmanship. In 1953, Pop contracted polio and lost the use of his legs. Perhaps that was why for the remainder of his life he used his big heart and mind so well. In 1978 he started and built his own advertising business. He was an inventor, a dreamer - a rare and wonderful soul. He was a exemplary role-model for his children and a hero for his grandchildren. He will be missed always. A memorial service will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, Wednesday, April 10, at 4:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Dr. O. Domke, HomeCare worker Willie and the Misericordia and Charleswood Care Centres for their compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, 825 Sherbrooke Ave., Winnipeg, MB. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
