ANNA MARIA van RYSSELT Peacefully, after being surrounded by all her children, Anna Maria van Rysselt passed away with dignity and grace at the age of 92 years on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at the Misericordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her loving husband Johannes Jozef in July 1973, and by her mother, father and brother from The Netherlands. She leaves to mourn her three children, Augustinus van Rysselt (Simone), Philomena Marino (Peter) and Ludivicus van Rysselt (Patricia) nine grandchildren, Steve Marino (Teresa), Jennie Waldner (George), John Marino (Marilyn), Cindy Roy (Jason), Terri van Rysselt, Debbie Aldana (Matt), John van Rysselt (Tanya), Melanie Spulnick (Brent) and Lisa Rempel (Garth) eight great-grandchildren, Leanna Marino, Nicholas, Alicia and Jenna Waldner, Jamie Marino, August van Rysselt, Emily Aldana and Anah Rempel. Anna was born in Maastricht, The Netherlands on January 11, 1910. She married John on July 23, 1932. Together they had three children. In 1954, John and Anna together with their three children boarded a ship and docked in Nova Scotia. They then travelled by train to Winnipeg where they made their home. Anna loved the family cottage out at Wannipegow, where she and John spent many hours on the lake fishing. After John died Anna spent many years travelling with her friends to such places as Hawaii, Texas and the Maritimes. She also travelled to her homeland in The Netherlands. Anna had boundless energy. She did volunteer work at the Thrift Shop for the Salvation Army. She was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Parish and their Seniors Group as well as the Social Club at Oakland Gardens. Her beautiful crochet work and knitted mittens, scarves and hats were always donated to all the bazaars and teas that were held at the church and Oakland Gardens. She enjoyed carpet bowling and shuffleboard and was at one time on the winning team of the Seniors Shuffleboard League. The family will always remember Anna for her fiesty spirit, her kindness and gentleness and her loving family devotion. The family would like to express their thanks to Ciel Gera, Holly DaQuisto, the nurses, Home Care Attendants and Home Support Workers from the Home Care Program for their support and care over the last several years. They would also like to thank all the staff at both Concordia Hospital and Misericordia Interim Care for their care and compassion shown to Anna over the last several months. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 9, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 288 Donwood Dr. with Rev. Fr. Raymond Baudry officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brent Spulnick, Steve Marino, John Marino, John van Rysselt, George Waldner and Matt Aldana.
