ELIZABETH (BETH) BETKE On April 5, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer, at home with her family by her side, Beth Betke, aged 66 years of Moosehorn, MB passed away peacefully. Beth was born on November 6, 1935 in Melfort, SK. Beth grew up on the family farm near Gronlid. She attended lower school in Gronlid, SK, high school in Melfort, and then went on to teachers college in Winnipeg. She met Art Betke, and later was married on March 8, 1956. This marriage was blessed with two children, Martin and Theresa. Beth taught school for over 29 years, and her career took her to various locations throughout Manitoba. Later on they settled in Moosehorn, and she taught there until her retirement. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were a highlight in her life. Beth was involved in a lot of committee activities around the province which kept her very busy. She is survived by her husband Art, son Martin (Tracy) Betke, their children, Chris, Kyle and Trinity, daughter Theresa (Bill) Rea, their children, Trish and Jessica; her brothers, Godfrey Romaniuk of Saskatoon, SK, and Joseph (Phyllis) Romaniuk and family of Melfort, SK; and her sister Margaret Romaniuk of Gimli, MB, and other family members. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Romaniuk. In accordance to Beths wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Manitoba Anatomy Department for medical research. A private family memorial service will be held at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern, MB at a later date. The family would like to thank the homecare workers, for the wonderful care they gave our mom. Special thanks to Loretta Meisner, Patsy Klyne, Darlene Springer, Dr. Lee Isaacs, Dr. Paul Berrow of Ashern, to Dr. Pat Harrison and Dr. Vijay of Winnipeg Cancer Care, also to the Cancer Foundation of Manitoba for the prompt care which Beth received.
