ALICE MARY METCALFE (nee LONG) Peacefully, with family members by her side, Alice passed away on Monday April 8, 2002, at Central Park Lodge Poseidon Bay. Mom was born in Winnipeg February 15, 1917. Her husband Frank Metcalfe predeceased her in 1992. She is survived by her three daughters, Margaret Fenton of Winnipeg, Elizabeth Dasinger (Jim) of Baltimore, MD, Deborah Metcalfe of Winnipeg; her three stepchildren, Marian Yeo of Winnipeg, Barbara Germain (Garry) of Montclair, NJ, Frank Metcalfe of San Rafael, CA, and their families; her brother Emsley Long and Margaret; and grandchildren, Deidre, Elizabeth, Sarah, Matthew and John; as well as great-granddaughters, Kathleen and Kirstyn; and many other family members. Mom lived most of her life in Winnipeg and spent 85 summers at her beloved cottage at Whytewold Beach. In her early years she was very involved with the Girl Guides as a leader. Mom worked for many years in the clearing department at the Bank of Montreal and retired from the bank in 1957 to be a full-time mother. Her other interests included badminton, bowling and curling at the Winnipeg Winter Club. A highlight of her years as a member of the Winter Club were her lunches with the Wednesday girls. Mom was an avid Blue Bomber fan and held season tickets since 1967. In accordance with her wishes no formal service will be held and cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. Alices family would like to thank the staff of Central Park Lodge Poseidon Bay, especially those on the 2nd floor, for the care and compassion they provided to Alice and her family. If friends desire, donations may be made in Alices memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
