Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD SMADELLA It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Donald Smadella on April 7, 2002 at the Ste. Anne Hospital at the age of 54 years. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary Smadella. He will be lovingly remembered always by his only son Adam; daughter Amanda; grandson Logan; brothers, Walter (Shirley), Henry (Betty), Lawrence (Cindy), Edward (Beverley) sister Zenia (Ed) Petrasko; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Donald was born and raised in Moose Bay, MB on his parents farm. He had numerous occupations from working at CP Rail, to carpentry and volunteering around the community. His most important job was providing for his son Adam and daughter Amanda. The joy of his life was his grandson Logan. His best quality was having an open ear, offering excellent conversation and always having something to say. He had a big heart, a great sense of humour and helped wherever he could. Viewing and prayers will take place Thursday evening, April 11, between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with prayers being offered at 7:45 p.m. Funeral service to follow on Friday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie Grove Fellowship Chapel on Station Road in Lorette. Pastor Darnell Plett will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Jeff and James Petrasko, David, Grant, Michael and Joseph Smadella. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Blood Services, where Donald gave regular blood donations. The family would like to express their thanks to George Jarvis, who stopped on the Trans Canada Highway near Ste. Anne to offer assistance and transport Donald to the Ste. Anne Hospital for medical aid. Thanks to Dr. Chatel and staff at the hospital who tried to prolong his life and support his grieving family. Special thanks to the residents of the Notre Dame Villa in Lorette for their patience and kindness to Donald who spent his last few years living there. Thanks to Sue Roth of Workers Compensation who was an angel in Donalds life, who brought joy and a reason for a better life while being in his life for only a month. Thanks to all who in some small way made Donalds life better. Rest in eternal peace. Dear Dad and Grandpa, Theres an open gate at the end of the road Through which each must go alone And there is a light we cannot see. Our Father claims His own; Beyond the gate dear Dad, Youll find happiness and rest And there is comfort in the knowledge That our loving God knows best. Love Adam, Amanda and Logan. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. 222-6677
