ROSE TRUTE On Sunday, April 7, 2002, Rose Trute, passed away peacefully at the Sharon Home at the age of 93. A graveside service was held April 10, 2002 at the BNay Abraham Cemetery. Rose Shatz was born in Ukraine and came to Canada at the age of 12 by way of Romania and London, England. She settled with her family in Winnipeg and had special memories of William Whyte School. She married Israel Trute in 1932 and they moved to Saskatoon with children, Shirley and Barry in 1947. Her husband predeceased her in 1974 and she then returned to Winnipeg. Rose was a business woman who was well known and respected for her honesty and integrity. She was a positive woman who saw the good in others and could deal directly and courageously with adversity. She loved life and cherished her friends with enduring loyalty. Her family was the centre of her life and she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Music was an important element in her life and she took pleasure in singing and dancing. Rose had a hunger for knowledge and was a voracious reader. She encouraged her children in their studies and took great pride in their academic accomplishments. She was a highly intelligent woman, who lived her life with modesty, wisdom, good humour and simplicity. She is survived by her children, Shirley Trute Storke and Barry Trute. She will be greatly missed by her grandsons, Jay and Stephen Goodfriend, and her great-grandchildren, Raela, Rebecca and Carl Goodfriend. The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided by the dedicated staff at the Sharon Home. Memorial tributes in her name may be made to the Sharon Home, 146 Magnus Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 2B4.
