JEAN ISABEL WILSON (nee MOYER) 1913 - 2002 Peacefully, on April 9, 2002, with grace and dignity, Jean Wilson of Selkirk, widow of the late George Henry Wilson, passed away at Health Sciences Centre. She was born on the 10th of December, 1913 in Winnipegosis, MB, one of 10 children of the late Jennie and Abraham Moyer. Jean married George on September 25, 1940 in the Winnipegosis United Church. Their union resulted in four children, Ernest, Eleanor Jean, Wesley (deceased) and Elsie. Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband George (1975) son Wesley (1959) brothers and sisters, Abraham, Albert, Elizabeth (George), Barbara (Henry), Margaret, William (Gladys) and sisters-in-law, Alice (Mindy) and Emma (Edgar). Mom leaves to love and cherish her memory, her son Ernest (June) of Winnipeg, grandchildren, Marla Jean, Janna (Randall), Lori Morton (Chad), and great-grandchild Christian; two daughters, Eleanor of Selkirk, Elsie Coldwell (Duane) of Gimli, grandchildren, Robert (Kristel) and their children, Nicholas, Lucas and Thomas; Jeffery (Raquel) and their children, Kelsey and Makenna. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Moyer of Winnipegosis; brother Walter Moyer (Ruth) of Winnipeg; sister Jennie Urquhart (Jim) and their family of Killarney; sister-in-law Florence Smith of Selkirk; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mom always put her children and family first, how she loved her grandchildren and took great delight in the engaging conversations and treasured the visits with her great-grandchildren. She loved people and was always kind and thinking of others. Her many acts of kindness and generosity continued throughout her life, she sent many cards and cheery notes and little gifts to friends. The cheerful phone calls and smiles pleased her immensely. Moms volunteerism served to benefit people. She was one of the original marching mothers for the March of Dimes and was instrumental in working with Howard Pawley to achieve the early widows allowance for women younger than 65. Mom was also a member of the Army, Navy Airforce Ladies Auxillary, Branch 151 of Selkirk since 1944 and was awarded a life membership in 1992. She served as President and held every office as well as serving with the Provincial Command and Deer Lodge Hospital. Dear to Moms heart was the Laurel Rebekah lodge No. 67, Selkirk. She was a member since 1951 and served as Noble Grand, held all offices and served at the Provincial level. Mom was a mentor and advisor to the Thesa Theta Rho Jr. Rebeccas. Additionally she worked with the C.G.I.T. (Canadian Girls in Training). She was also a lifelong member of Christ Anglican Church, Selkirk, serving as first President of the afternoon branch of the Ladies Auxillary and enjoyed working on the Altar Guild. Mom enjoyed flower gardening (especially her favorite, roses), baking, reading, knitting, needlework and social gatherings with family and friends. She will always be remembered for her famous wit, tremendous sense of humour, kindness and warm smile. Prayers will be said on Thursday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. (tonight) in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. A celebration of Jeans life will be held on Friday, April 12 at 11:00 a.m., also in the chapel, with Rev. Hugh Laidlaw officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Clements Cemetery. Members of the ANAF Ladies Auxillary will form a Guard of Honor. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. B. Ryckman and staff of the Selkirk General Hospital, to the Health Sciences staff on GH-4, Rev. Stephen Sharman, and Laverne for their compassionate care. If friends so desire, donations can be made in Moms memory to a charity of ones choice. MOM AND DAD TOGETHER AGAIN HAND IN HAND. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
