ROELOFKE (RUTH) SCHRIEMER On Monday, April 8, 2002, peacefully, after a courageous battle with ALS, the Lord took Home our dearly beloved Mother and Beppe, Ruth Schriemer. Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband Klaas. Left to cherish her memory are her children and grandchildren, Harry and wife Michele, grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew, Christopher, Adam: John and wife Cristina, grandchildren, Joshua, Brandon, Nadia: Charlene and husband Jason, grandchildren, Aaron, Joshua. Also surviving her are her sisters, Susan Veenstra and Vicki Steendam of Winnipeg, and her brother Tjeerd (Martje) Steendam of The Netherlands. Also brothers and sisters- in-law, Tina and Garret Hoogeveen, Jan and Anneke Schriemer, Ebe and Coba Haanstra, Piet and Miep Schriemer, Oene and Loltje Schriemer, Vic and Grace Schriemer. Ruth was born in Drachten, The Netherlands on September 9, 1926. She immigrated to Canada with her husband in 1952 settling first in Homewood and then moving to Winnipeg. She faithfully supported her husband in the family business. She was a member of Elmwood Community Reformed Church for many years. She had an inner strength that came from her belief in our loving Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith was a witness to us all. She so looked forward to being with her Lord who has now taken her Home to be with Him. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13 at 2:00 pm in Elmwood Community Reformed Church, 1040 Beach Ave. with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Schultz officiating. Interment following in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, R3J 0L3, or a charity of choice. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the ALS Team and the nurses and staff at 6 West in Deer Lodge Centre for their gentle care and compassion.
