MARTHA SMITH (ROSIN)
Date of Passing: Apr 10, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTHA SMITH (nee ROSIN) Martha Smith, wife of the late Roy Smith, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2002. She leaves to mourn her son Bryan, daughter-in-law Beverly, grandchildren, Allison and Russell; sisters, Helen Galts, Edith Paterson, Lillian Hay of Winnipeg and Olga Slater of Minneapolis and other cherished family and friends. Martha was born to parents, Adam and Emilia Rosin. She was married to Roy Smith, her life long partner and soul mate for more that 50 years. Together they shared a lifetime of love for family and friends that provided Martha with purpose and pleasure. "Caring" and "sharing" accurately describe her life and her character. Her culinary skills were a gift and a source of much pride - again, shared with others. The unfettered joy, delight, and love she had for all children were hallmarks obvious to all those whose lives she touched. Auntie "Mar" was one swell lady! With her passing a light in our lives has dimmed for those of us left behind. Her spirit now moves on to join that of beloved Roy. And thats as it should be! But we will certainly miss her. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at both Grace Hospital (3rd floor) and Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home for their kindness and assistance in a difficult time for Martha. Special thanks to Dale Schmeichel, Kelly and Angela for the care and attention they provided. Funeral service will be held on 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens with a reception in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Pallbearers will be Russell Smith, Douglas Smith, Kurt Slocombe, Gary Galts, Alvin Schmeichel and Manfred Leindecker. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7.
