ROBERT IRWIN HUDSON Bob passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on April 12, 2002 with family at his side. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Mary; and his children, David (Gail), Ann Friesen (John), and John. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Nathanael, Olwyn, Caleb, and Laura. He will also be sadly missed by his many friends in Canada, the United States, and England. Bob was born in Minneapolis on March 18, 1925. He served in the United States Army during the Second World War. While stationed in England, he met his wife, Mary, and they were married in Minneapolis in 1947. He earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Minnesota, his Masters and Ed.D. from Michigan State University. In 1964, Bob became the founding director of the Counselling Service at the University of Manitoba. Over the next 28 years, he helped hundreds of people find their careers and he contributed in many ways to the University. Bob was an active member of Fort Garry United Church, where he served in many capacities. His greatest joy was the church choir, where he sang for 35 years. His love of music also found expression in the Bison Mens Chorus and playing the piano and organ. We will remember Bob as a man of many interests: he was a voracious reader, and he enjoyed rock hunting, curling, and swimming. Bobs vocation and his gift was helping people. To his own children, he offered unconditional support. He was a loving father and husband and enjoyed his grandchildren. The family wants to express its gratitude for the caring attention he received from his home care staff. We are also grateful for Dr. Glew and the Emergency Room staff at Victoria Hospital. Bobs life will be celebrated at a memorial service Tuesday, April 16 at 2:00 at Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
