GEORGINA "ENA" ELLEN MAWHINNEY (nee STAPLES) June 12, 1905 - April 11, 2002 Peacefully, on Thursday, April 11, 2002, Mom passed away at Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Fred; her sister Nora Gauvin and brother Robert Staples. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her son Gordon (Hope) daughter May (Ed) Hamilton; her beloved grandchildren, Rob and Meghan Mawhinney, Dana and Craig Hamilton, also many wonderful nieces and nephews. Mom was born and raised on the family farm near Ingleside. She married Dad in 1941 and they lived in Oakville before moving to Winnipeg in 1954. Mom had a great interest in sports. She was an avid bowler at Mosienko Lanes for many years. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Bombers and the Jets in good times and bad. In 2000 Mom moved to Kin Place in Oakbank, where she enjoyed many activities. She was very proud of her nieces curling and baseball careers and followed them closely throughout the years, including an unforgettable trip to the Ladies Canadian Curling Championship in Newfoundland. Mom will be missed by everyone who knew her. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Interment will be held in the Oakville Cemetery, Oakville, MB on Tuesday, April 16 at 3:00 p.m. Special thanks to the loving caregivers at Kin Place and the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion.
