WERNER MIKE MERKE Beloved husband of Giselle, passed away peacefully at the Brandon General Hospital on Thursday, April 11, 2002. Werner was born in Whitemouth, MB, on February 24, 1926, the son of Rudolph and Ella Meta Merke. As a young man he enjoyed working with his hands, creating things. By trade he was a bricklayer and in 1957 to 1958 started his own company, Merke Masonary. He left a legacy of quality work behind him. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, and his grandchildren. Grandson Christopher loved to play sequence with Grandpa. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Giselle Katherine; son Joey (Terry) Jozsa of Phoenix, AZ; and daughter Elizabeth (Greg) Dyck of Winnipeg. Also left are his grand-children, Adam Jozsa, Christopher Petrowski, Jonathan, Melissa and Mathew Dyck. He also leaves a sister-in-law Shirley Merke and nephew, Vern Merke of Calgary, AB and Verns children, Trish and Ryan and a cousin Maide Barbnecht and uncle Oscar of Vancouver, BC. Werner was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Ella Meta Merke; two brothers, Ernest Merke and Horst Merke. His pet "Toby" will deeply miss his master. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th St. N., on Tuesday, April 16, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The ceremony to celebrate Werners life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 114 Ashgrove Blvd., on Wednesday, April 17, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Ted Jannuska will officiate. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Werner to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, 42 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB R7A 2B2. The family wish to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff on 400, Brandon Regional Health Centre, for all their kindness and care given to Werner during his hospitalization. "I lift up my eyes to the hills- Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip - He who watches over you will not slumber; Indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you - The Lord is your shade at your right hand; The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." May You Rest in Peace, Dad.
