JACOB I. BERGMANN (JAKE) 1931 - 2002 Jake was born February 11, 1931 at New Reinfeld, just east of Winkler, MB to Isaac and Anna Derksen Bergmann. Jake is survived by his wife Erna of Morden, three sons, Richard and Senta Bergmann, Brooke, Mitchell, Cale and Ariel of Morden, MB; Terence and Shelley Bergmann, Joshua, Katrina and Caleb of Cartier, MB; and Robert and Julie Bergmann, Kara and Bailee of Winnipeg. He is also survived by two brothers, Peter and Casey Bermann of Kelowna BC, and Tony and Alma Bergman of Beausejour, MB; four sisters, Anne Colert of Kelowna, Helen and Abe (Chuck) of Morden, MB, Kathy and Walter Kehler of Winnipeg, and Margaret and Neil Reimer of Kenya, Africa. Also two sisters-in-law, Midge Bergman of Morden and Bjorg Bergmann of Revelstoke, BC; and many nieces and nephews. Jake was predeceased by his parents and two brothers in infancy, brothers, Ike, Henry (Harry), and Abe. Jake was a humble man with the heart of a servant and the love of God. He loved and accepted people for who they were and was never judgemental. Those who knew Jake would remember him sitting on his driveway soaking up the sunshine. He always had an ear to listen and a heart full of compassion. At the centre of his heart were his grandchildren. Jake loved to be physically active and enjoyed the outdoors. Three years ago, due to surgical complications, he was left a paraplegic. His testimony never wavered despite the pain he endured. He never complained and was never angry. If anything, he was frustrated because he could no longer help others the way he used to. Jake will be greatly missed but we will all hold a piece of him in our hearts. Viewing will be held today from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden and at the church prior to the service. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2:00 p.m. at Bergthaler Church of Morden. Pastor Rick Neufeld officiating. Interment will follow at Southside Cemetery, Morden. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Home Care people that helped take care of Jake at home and the Doctors and Staff of Boundary Trails Health Centre for their excellent care that they provided throughout the years. Also, thanks to our friends who have blessed us with food and upheld us in prayer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bergthaler Mennonite Church of Morden, 363 Gilmour, Morden, MB, R6M 1M5, ear marked for "Fellowship Hall Acoustics Fund", or to a charity of ones choice. Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden in care of arrangements. 204-822-4755.
