He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Jennifer, daughter Danna, son Danny Jr., mother Margaret Slessor. He is also survived by his brothers, Norm (Sharon), Jack (Sabrina), Ayla and Chloe, and Scot (Donica), and Sophie; sister Christine Bonnett (Barry) in-laws, Betty and Bob Cobb, sisters and brothers-in-law, Sheila (Hugh) Kelly, Kim and Scott, Norm (Margaret), Ellen and Val, and Susan (Fred), Kristy and Teresa. Also many extended family members. He was born June 22, 1956 in Winnipeg and spent his childhood in Transcona. He then immigrated to Flin Flon, MB to be CFAR Radios #1 Announcer for five years, affectionately known as "Weird Dan". Returning to Winnipeg to attend university, he met Jennifer at a Special Olympics event. They were married in July 1985 and began a life of shared passion for music, The Winnipeg Folk Festival, The Maritimes, and special times with family and friends. His greatest joy was his two children. He enjoyed attending soccer games, school plays, choir festivals, Danny Jrs graduation, and coaching and participating in soccer, hockey, and basketball. Danny was a "Big Brother" to John, Danny, Aaron, and Kenny. He was an extraordinary volunteer for various events. He coordinated the Kids Sake (Teen Touch) volleyball tournament. Danny would not allow his illness to prevent him from living his life to the fullest and he became a role model for many living with a chronic illness. Dan had a flare for organizing everything from a charity fundraiser to a family gathering. He will also be missed by many friends and his loyal companion MacDuff. The family extends their sincere thanks to Lynn MacGregor, home care nurse and the purple nursing team at Riverview Health Centre 3E Wing for their compassionate care. At Dannys request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 3:00 p.m. at St. Marys Magdalene Church, 3 St. Vital Rd. Reception to follow in the church basement. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so, could send donations to Manitoba Special Olympics, or the non-profit group of your choice. We say farewell to Danny with the words of his favourite singer songwriter Harry Chapin. "Therell be such brightness around me, I wont want for anymore."

Danny lived across the street from us when we were young kids and he was one of my best friends. Those were the days when our parents sent us out to play and told us to be home when the street lights came on. He was the nicest person I have ever met and it's too bad that we grow up and move away. Great guy from a nice family. You are all lucky to have had such a wonderful person in your life. - Posted by: Eddie Balcewich (Friend and neighbor when we were little kids) on: Oct 04, 2024

Hey Pop I googled your name and this came up. I miss you every day. I wish you could have met my wife and kids (your daughter-in-law and grandkids) you would love them. Daniel has your energy and big heart and Sam is just as stubborn as you. They amaze me everyday and I think of you often. I love you and miss you. - Posted by: Danny Slessor-Cobb (Danny Jr) (Son) on: Apr 07, 2012
