LENA (HELEN) HILDEBRAND 1924 - 2002 It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of our dear beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who passed away with family at her side on April 12, 2002, at the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre at the age of 77 years. The family will forever remember Mother for her unconditional love, her compassion and caring for others and her undying commitment to her faith and belief in life everlasting. God bless you, Mother; we love you and until we meet again, may you rest in peace. Mother was predeceased by two of her children, daughter Anna and son Dick; her parents, Maria and Peter B. Sawatzky; sister Tina Enns; and her brother Carl (Charlie) Sawatzky. Left to cherish her wonderful memory are her loving husband John of 58 years of marriage; her son Peter and daughter-in-law Eileen, and grandchildren, Shauna, Sharla Behnke (Andy), and great-grandchild Samuel; her daughter Marian Wahl and son-in-law Ray, and grandchildren, Tammy Cholod (Andy), Michael (fiancee Karen), Andrew (Renee), Rachel, and great-grand-children, Tanisha and Donovan; her daughter Helen Major and son-in-law Paul, and grand-children, Jon, Steven and Lisa; her daughter Katherine and friend Victor; her son Raymond and grandchildren, Chris and Justin; her daughter Jane Jackson and son-in-law Dennis, and grandchildren, Jaye and Jerilyn; her son Bob; her brothers, Henry and Dave Sawatzky of Altona; and her sisters, Anne Hildebrand of Alberta, and Mary Giesbrecht, Sue (Henry) Schroeder, Betty Hawrys, Nettie Wall (Ben) and Marge Harten of British Columbia. The family wishes to acknowledge sincere appreciation to Dr. James Johnston, CancerCare Manitoba, Dr. Cornelius Woelk and staff at the Boundary Trails Health Centre and the staff at the Altona Community Memorial Health Centre for their compassionate support in caring for Mother. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at the Altona Bergthaler Mennonite Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wiebe Funeral Home Altona Ltd.; interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions to be directed to CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
