Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE WALTER REBIZANT Peacefully on April 20, 2002 at the Selkirk General Hospital, George Rebizant, aged 93 years, passed away with his family at his side. George leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his son Joseph (Lulu), grandson Ken (Marlene), and great-grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, and Joseph; grandson Terry (Susan), and great-grandchildren, Jane, Thor and Hanna; grandson Christopher (Sue), and great-grandson Hunter; son David (Pat), and grandchildren, Richard and Michelle; son Russell (Lorraine) daughter-in-law Debbie and their children, Holly (Darcy), and Amber. Also left to mourn, his brother Alex, sister-in-law Helen Rebizant, good neighbours, Steve and Pauline Ivaniski, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. George was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years Kathleen (Gutowski), his parents, John and Catharina; brothers, Michael and Nick; his sister Sophie Wilhelm; and niece Winnie Meronyk (Wilhelm). George was born on April 30, 1908 in the farming town of Friefeld, Poland. In March of 1928 the entire Rebizant family left the "old country" for Selkirk MB, except Sophie Wilhelm who remained behind with her family. Tragically, the family perished in the Second World War in April 1944, except for Winnie, who survived and subsequently immigrated to Canada. In Selkirk, George worked at the Simpsons Box Factory and then gained employment at the Selkirk Steel Foundry where he worked as a moulder for some 44 years until his retirement at the age of 65. Over the years, he enjoyed travelling to Dauphin, Malonton, and Winnipeg to be with family and friends. He always had a fondness and love for Selkirk which he said was the best place in the world in which to live. He had a love for Canada which gave him, as an immigrant, the opportunity to work, live, and raise his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our family would like to thank the relatives and friends for their kindness and care during his residence at Ross House in Selkirk and his short stay at the Selkirk General Hospital. We sincerely appreciate everyones care and support. Special thanks to Dr. Badenhorst, Kim of Ross House, and nurses, Eleanor and Michelle, who all attended to his needs. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, April 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Rev. Fr. Harry Oliynek will celebrate the Divine Liturgy on Wednesday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Selkirk. Interment in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ken, Terry, Chris, and Richard; and nephews, Dennis and Clarence. As token of sympathy, donations in Georges memory may be made to the charity of ones choice. Deep are the memories precious they stay, no passing of time can take them away. Rest in peace dear soul. VICHNAYA PAMYAT Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
