BENJAMIN PATRICK PARKER Grateful for the gift of his life and the many blessings it bestowed upon us, Ben Parkers family announces, with deep sadness, his passing on Tuesday, April 16, 2002. Left to cherish Bens memory are his loving wife and very special friend Debbie Whitney; his siblings, Ian, Bruce, Brian, Wendy, Shirley and Linda; his father-in-law Larry Whitney; brothers-in-law, Larry and Wayne; sister-in-law Cheryl; many, many loving and special nieces and nephews and a host of some of the best darn friends anyone could hope for. Ben was pre-deceased by his mother Beverly, father Hugh, brother Casey, and mother-in-law Margaret. Ben will be remembered and carried in the hearts of his family and friends in boundless ways. It is difficult to begin expressing all of these ways because Bens greatest gift was acceptance - acceptance of life with all of its gifts as well as all of its imperfections. Each individual life Ben encountered, he honored with acceptance for the virtues it possessed and the flaws it presented. So, for those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by Bens life, each has lost an extraordinary player on their team. Ben was the best promoter and cheerleader for those he loved. Ben loved to cook and entertain. Each year he hosted his own birthday/Canada Day celebration preparing both the food and the drink for his many friends and family. Ben was a philosopher, theologian, entre-preneur, and accountant. Ben enjoyed curling and baseball (but not hockey). Ben was an advocate for social equality and justice. His family wishes to thank all those who cared for him in his illness, in the hospital and at home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peters Anglican Church, 755 Elm St. at Grant Ave. To celebrate Bens life, in lieu of flowers, the family encourages anyone who desires to do something which is meaningful for them, in his memory.
