FRANK SHALAPATA Frank passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at the Holy Family Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his father Thomas; mother Annie and son-in-law Leonard Finney. Frank will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 64 years Anastasia (Nettie) daughters, Luba Finney with sons, Leonard and Lyndon (Debbie) with great-grandson Bennet, Nancy Drewniak (Paul) with daughters, Shelley Watkins (Kelly) with sons Cameron and Colin, Joy DeVisser (Jason) son Frank Justin Shalapata; and sister Jessie Purser. Frank was born December 7, 1914 in Winnipeg, MB, where he spent his early years in the North End. His family then moved to South Transcona and operated a dairy farm. On October 23, 1937 Frank married Nettie Kostiuk and had three children. He worked for Winnipeg Electric as a Bus Operator, and the City of Winnipeg Parks and Recreation until his retirement in 1974. Frank spent his retirement years travelling to many countries and enjoyed winters in Florida. He was an active Reflexologist and had many happy clients. Frank was a member of many Fraternal Organizations, Ionic Lodge No. 25 A.F. and A.M. and was past president of the Khartum Temple 101 Club, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and International Brotherhood of Magicians. In lieu of flowers, donations in Franks memory may be made to the Holy Family Nursing Home, Wheel Chair Van Fund, 165 Aberdeen Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2W 1T9, or Khartum Temple Shrine Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3P 1B9 or a charity of your choice. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
