SHIRLEY ELLEN TAYLOR (nee WELCH) On Wednesday, April 17, 2002, surrounded by loved ones, Shirley, aged 68 years, peacefully passed away at her home in Carman. She fought a courageous battle with cancer; however, in the end she lost, but her strength has given us the courage to go on. We know that she has gone to a better place. Shirley was born in St. Boniface, MB, and lived in Winnipeg until 1959 when she, her husband and family moved to the family farm east of Carman. This was her home until earlier this year when she and Gordon moved into the town of Carman. Shirley is survived by her husband Gordon in their 50th year of marriage. Shirley is survived by her children, Al (Nancy) Taylor of Warman, SK, Wendy (Graham) Bell of Lewvan, SK, Kim (Glen) Knutson of Grosse Isle, MB, Bill (JoAnn) Taylor of Warren, MB, Wayne (Collette) Taylor of Carman, MB. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren... and counting. Also surviving are her brother Bill (Thelma) Welch of Nashville, TN; and her sister Celia (Mal) Drever of Lloydminster, AB; plus numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her life was centred around her faith in God and her family. Shirley was a very loving and caring person. Her fighting spirit and selfless character were a constant inspiration to us and continued through her last days. The family is very grateful and thankful to all of her caregivers over this past year. Funeral service will be held from the Church of Christ in Carman on Saturday, April 20 at 2:00 p.m., with Dan Wieb officiating. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. Memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Doyle Funeral Chapel of Carman in care of arrangements.
