LYDIA (LYDA) GERONNEY Lyda Geronney passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on March 14, 2002 at the Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, MB. She was married to Jerry (Emil) Geronney in 1943 who predeceased her in 1955. Also predeceased by brothers, James Pollock 1924, Bill Pollock 1976, and Bob Pollock 1982; sisters, Mary Archer 1969 and Maude McQuay 1991; and her niece Roberta Hildebrandt (McQuay) 1964. Lyda is survived by her daughter Lorraine (Charles) Barnes of Inwood, MB, and step-daughter Geraldine Webb of Hamilton, ON. Grandchildren, Lois (Peter) Karish, Gwen (Serge) Sawrenko, Beverley Barnes, Trevor (Brenda) Barnes, Robert Webb, Janis Webb and Mark Webb. Great-grandchildren, Kurt, Kristie, Kory, Kimberley, Katherine and Kyle. She is also survived by nephews, Ron McQuay of Winnipeg, Murray (Blanche) McQuay of Dauphin, Orville (Shirley) Archer of Dauphin, Ray (Lou) Archer of North Vancouver and their families; as well as many other great nieces and nephews. Lyda was born and raised in Dauphin, married and lived in Kenora but spent most of her life in Winnipeg. She was a longtime employee of the T. Eaton Company and retired from Ladies Sportswear in 1972. She frequently visited her family and friends in many parts of Canada and made a trip to Ireland to visit the Pollock Family in Ballymoney where her father and mother lived before coming to Canada around the turn of the century. Lyda enjoyed reading, golf, music and playing bridge with many of her friends at the St. Pauls Bridge Club and was a regular attendee of the Westminster United Church. She always looked forward to your visits, letters, cards and phone calls. Lyda was a wonderful person and a great lady we will miss her dearly. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. A reception will follow. Her many friends and relatives are invited. Flowers are greatly appreciated, or if so desired make a donation in memory of Lyda to the Childrens Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, 501-840 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, R3C 2B1.
