DAVID B. OSTER On April 20, 2002 it is with much sadness the family of David B. Oster announces the sudden and tragic passing of our hero at the youthful age of 54. David was a wonderful husband, father and friend, and a mentor to many. David touched the lives of all he met in a very special way. He leaves to cherish his beautiful memory his beloved wife Linda; sons, Keith (Dena) of Ottawa, Murray of Calgary; and daughter Amanda presently of Vancouver. David also leaves to mourn his brothers, Don (Pat) and Jerry (Val) of Winnipeg; sisters, Elaine (Walter) of Vancouver, Gloria (Jim), and Cynthia (Vince) of Gimli. David was predeceased by his parents, John Oster, Polly Petrachek and stepfather Joe Petrachek. As a resident and the Reeve of West St. Paul for many years, Davids ambition, commitment to community and vision, will stand as testament to all who follow in his footsteps. As a teacher in the Seven Oaks School Division for the past 30 years, his influence personally touched the lives of all who had come into contact with him. As a man he unselfishly put the needs and wants of others before all, but as a voice stood well above the crowd. Davids integrity, compassion, and love for life were found in the way he would turn lifes negatives into positives. A student once gifted him a bookmark, which he kept in his bible, it read: "Youre a teacher whos really made a difference in my life. Youve helped me to think about things in a different way and always consider some new possibilities .... Youve taken the time to listen to my ideas and thoughts, and have always encouraged and helped me in reaching my goals .... In fact, youve been more than a teacher....youve been a good friend, too. Thats why I want to say thanks for all youve done for me, and to let you know how much its meant to have a wonderful teacher like you." He will be missed by many but loved by all. The Lord has now chosen a new path for David, until we meet again... enjoy and do take care! We love you! The memorial service will be held at St. Theresas Church, 3597 Main St., West St. Paul, on Wednesday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens located at 4477 Main St., West St. Paul.
