Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL SMYRSKI 1931 - 2002 Mike passed away with grace and dignity in the loving arms of his wife, Mildred, and passed into the arms of God on April 21, 2002, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. He is survived by his son Darryl (Nancy) grandson Sean; step-children, Diane (Fred), Marsha (Bill), and Kent (Carla) step-grandchildren, Erica, Alex, Jason, Marcus, Ryan, Graham, Scott, and Kyle; step-great-grandchildren, Hannah, Cullen, and Simon. Mike is also survived by his sisters, Mary, Tena (Adolf), Pauline, Anne, Helen (Edwin), Audrey (Marcel) brothers, Peter (Barbara), Joe (Agnes), Larry (Ann), David, Norman (Jo-Ann), Brian (Bonnie) and his cousin Joe of Gull Lake. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Nellie and Anton Smyrski; his first wife Nellie; and his brothers, Steve and Paul and his sister Olga. Mike was born on September 11, 1931, in Thalberg, MB. He loved to travel with Mildred and he thoroughly enjoyed his business, North West Auto Body. For many years Mike enjoyed the Shriners in the Khartum Kops unit and was a Mason at Grand Lodge No. 131, King Edward Preceptory, Concordia Chapter, and York Rite Royal Arch. He spent happy hours with his family at his cottage at Gull Lake. He touched many lives with his laughter, generosity, and kindness. His departure will leave a tremendous loss in all our lives. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff of Riverview Health Centre, Susan Manson and staff; the Health Sciences Centre; Grace Hospital; St. Boniface Hospital; and to Home Care for the care provided to Mike. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association, 211 - 825 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5, as tokens of remembrance.
