LEDA (LEE) DOWBENKO (nee TUCKER) Beloved mother of Sharron; son-in-law Rick Sobey; treasured grandmother of Sean (Sherry), and Sherritt; and great-grandmother to Josh, Carsen and soon to be new baby Chase. Lee passed away peacefully April 22, 2002 at the Concordia Hospital, at the age of 85 years, following a lengthy illness. Lee was born July 16, 1916 in Winnipeg and was predeceased by husband Mickey; her parents Doria and Gabrielle; sisters Marion, Anita and Rozalind; brother Stan and her longtime companion and brother-in-law Joe Lash. Lee will be lovingly remembered by all her nieces and nephews including special niece Janice Haywood; great-niece Miranda; nephew Wayne Johnson (Barb) and niece Joyce Zolles. The family would like to thank the staff at N1 Concordia Hospital for the wonderful care given to Lee these past months. A special thanks to our "angel on earth" Cecilia Furtado and Dr. Gilbert Welch for their daily visits, friendship and support. "though you cannot always see the bird singing, if you listen with you heart, you can always hear his song. though the ones we love may leave life as we know it, in our memory, the love we knew will always carry on." Good bye Mom! It was Lees wish that there be no memorial service at her passing, cremation has been arranged.
