GEORGINA RUTH HOGG BSc, MD, FRCPS Peacefully but suddenly on Sunday, April 21, 2002 at Victoria General Hospital, Georgina passed away. Georgie was born in Landis, SK on August 22, 1916, daughter of Peter and Deborah (Glaister) Hogg and was predeceased by her sister Isabel; brother Peter; and her niece Marilyn and nephew Douglas Hogg. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, strength and spirit her brother Allan; sister-in-law Ruth; her nephews, Rod with his wife Mary, Bruce, Michael with his wife Marion; her great-nieces and nephews, Alice, Melissa, Hilary, Katie, Fraser, Alex and James. Dr. Hogg joined the Faculty of Medicine in 1953. She was a senior pathologist and later director of surgical pathology at the Winnipeg General Hospital/Health Sciences Centre. Her scientific work earned her a national reputation as a consultant in surgical pathology. She was a great teacher, mentor and role model for undergraduate medical students and young pathologists. Dr. Georgina Hogg, Professor Emerita, established the Dr. Georgina R. Hogg Endowment Fund in 2001 at the University of Manitoba Libraries to provide medical books in perpetuity at the Neil John Maclean Health Sciences Library. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway in Winnipeg, followed by a time of fellowship with friends and family on the premises. A private interment will follow cremation at a later date in the family plot in the St. Vital Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 26, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
