MURIEL ASHTON It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Muriel S. Ashton, on April 23, 2002. Mom was born on January 9, 1925, in Winnipeg, the daughter of William and Margaret Ormshaw. Muriel was predeceased by her devoted husband, Bill Ashton; her parents; her in-laws, Ann and Ross Robertson; two infant sisters; aunt Margaret Endersby; stepmother Klara Ormshaw; brother-in-law Ian Robertson; and very special friend Mary Sadova. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters, Cindy (Bob) Bernard and Liz (Pat) Scoular; her grandchildren, David (Jolene) and Kristi Bernard and Ashleigh and James Scoular; brother Earle (Joyce) Ormshaw; sister Kathy Riege (Jerry). She is also survived by special sister-in-law and lifelong friend Ruth Robertson, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and good friends. Mom was a past president of the Hong Kong Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed her Wednesday morning bowling league at the Village Inn. When she wasnt travelling worldwide, she could be found mall walking at Unicity and in summertime on the beach at Sunset with her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Muriels name can be made to the Hong Kong Veterans Scholarship Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Winnipeg or to a charity of ones choice. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with visitation being held one-half hour prior to the service time. Rev. Ian Shaw will be officiating. We did not know that morning What sorrow the day would bring, The bitter grief and shock severe To part with the one we love so dear. You bid no one a last farewell No chance to say goodbye, You were gone before we knew it Only God knows why. It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home. Though your smile is gone forever And your hand we cannot touch, We will never lose the memory, Of the one we love so much.
