RICHARD THOMAS ROBBIE (TOM) June 25, 1920 - April 24, 2002 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Robbie, following a lengthy illness, on April 24, 2002 at the St. Boniface General Hospital. Tom was predeceased by his parents, as well as his wife Betty of 54 years. He is survived by his daughter Karen (Bob) Guyot; Rob, Kelly, Jacqui and John; sons, Scott (Susan), Meagan and Ryan; Brent (Joan), Richard; as well as his brother Murdock; sister Janet; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was born and raised in Swan River, MB, but spent most of his life living in Winnipeg. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces and served in both Canada and overseas from 1940 to 1945. He retired in 1983 as a Yard Master after working for the Canadian National Railways for 35 years. Tom enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, golfing and travelling. Some of his favourite times were spent with family at his sisters home on Red Lake. Tom immensely enjoyed his grandchildrens sporting activities. He was a loyal fan at many soccer, hockey and ringette games. Tom and his wife Betty were "drop of the hat" travellers. They took many spontaneous trips throughout the U.S.A. in search of the sunshine. Tom has made his final trip to meet with his beloved Betty, where they will live together in a better place where the sun always shines. Tom was not only a husband and a father, but most importantly a friend. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, and fun loving man. He was full of life and always there to lend both an ear, or a helping hand. His love for his family and friends was insurmountable. He has left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate to have known him. Sincere thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their show of compassion and tenderness towards our father during his final days on earth. In lieu of flowers, donations in Toms memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr., Rev. Dr. Sharon Wilson will be officiating.
