Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAUGUST JULIUS GUDMUNDSON Peacefully, after a short courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, April 24, 2002, surrounded by his family, at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital, August Julius Gudmundson, aged 68 years of Lundar, MB. August was born on September 4, 1933, in Arborg, MB. He was raised in Arborg where he received his schooling. Employed as a lineman with Manitoba Hydro, his work brought him to Lundar where he met and later married Ruby Margaret Johnson. He then took over his father-in-laws implement business and expanded and built a new garage in 1964 on Highway #6. August dedicated his life to his business. Through this, he made many good friends in the Interlake and surrounding areas. August retired in the mid 1990s and turned over the business to his son who still runs it today. In his retirement, he continued to enjoy the company of the many friends he had made. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Ruby, of 46 years; his son Randy (Tannis), grandchildren, Cara-Leigh (Roy), Cole, Dayna and Brenna; son Kevin (Janice), grandson Dylan; daughter Laurie (Grant), grandchildren, Carla and Evan; son Glenn (Diane), grandchildren, Gregory and Lisa; his two brothers, Dave (Lillian) and Marino (Edna) his sister Lillian and a sister-in-law Beatrice; along with numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends. August was predeceased by his parents David and Sigurbjorg; five brothers, Stephan, Krisjon, Valdi, Lindy and Joe; two sisters, Gudrun and Kristine; three sisters-in-law, Marin, Sigurbjorg and Eileen; along with two brothers-in-law, Harold and Bert. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29 at the Lundar Lutheran Church with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment to follow in the Lundar Municipal Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Hordal, Terry Lysaichuk, Ray Petersen, Dick Petersen, Ian McKinnon and Larry McCauley. Honorary pallbearers will be Steini Palsson, Otto Jundt, Dave Roberts, Arnold Hallson, Matt Tkachyk and Elwood Goodman. Special thanks to Dr. Steyn and the nurses and staff at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital for the loving care they gave to August. Donations may be made in Augusts memory to the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale for use in their Palliative Care Unit.
