KIRBY JAMES SINCLAIR "UNCLE KIRB" Kirby was born Tuesday, December 3, 1963, at Grand Rapids, MB, where he resided until 1974 when the family relocated to The Pas, MB. Kirby attended Kelsey School and Scott Bateman School. The family returned to Grand Rapids, and he worked as a logger and fisherman. Kirby married Vicki Stoneman in September 14, 1991, at Grand Rapids. Their daughter Julia was born June 15, 1989, and son Kirby Jr. was born June 23, 1992. The family moved to Lynn Lake, and Kirby furthered his education by getting his GED and then enrolled in the BUNTEP program. He successfully completed this program with a degree in Education. His first teaching position was in Grand Rapids where he worked for one term. Kirby then moved back to The Pas where he was hired on at Joe A. Ross School. He spent many hours in school and after school doing what he liked best, encouraging young people to be the best they could be. Kirby worked at Joe A. Ross for three years. He will be sorely missed. Tragically, Saturday, April 20, 2002, Kirby James Sinclair of Grand Rapids, passed away at the age of 38 years. He leaves to mourn his two children, Julia and Kirby Jr., and their mother, Vicki; mother Audrey Sinclair; brothers, Eugene (Denalda), Reginald (Deb), Fred (Debbie), John (Wanda) sisters, Linda (Ray Constant), Annie (Edwin Ballantyne), Jill (Adam Cook), Patsy (Dino Head), Connie (James Turner), Cathy (Dan Nagle) numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kirby was predeceased by his father Hubert Sinclair; brother John John; grandparents Stanley and Lydia Sinclair, Dan and Angelique Cook; uncles, Norman Sinclair, Russell Cook, Danny Cook, and Walter Cook. A wake service was held Tuesday, April 23 at the Church of Redeemer Parish Hall, Opaskwayak Cree Nation. A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 24, 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Redeemer, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, with Rev. Hagar Head and Rev. Jim Sayese presiding. Organist was Dr. Howard Chen. The Eulogy was given by Hector Michelle. Readings and tributes were by friends and staff of Joe A. Ross School. Wake services were held Wednesday, April 24 and Thursday, April 25 at St. Alexanders Parish Hall, Grand Rapids. The funeral service was held Friday, April 26, 1:00 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Doug Highway presiding. Organist was Mary Jane Highway. Eulogy was given by Hector Michelle. Interment took place in St. James Churchyard Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Active pallbearers were brothers, Gene Sinclair, Reg Sinclair, Fred Sinclair, John Sinclair; friends, Allan Cook, Mark McLeod, Benny Ballantyne, and Leslie "Crazy" Lathlin. Honorary pallbearers were Greg Sinclair, Shane Sinclair, Jeff McLeod, Terry Cook, Donald Sinclair, Donald Melnyk, Dino Head, Hector Michelle, Harold Turner, Vernon Campbell, Muriel Young, Rose Sinclair, Gabe Moose, the "Golden Bullets," the "Lunch Bunch," James Turner, Vince Stoneman, Brad Stoneman, and Dan Nagle.
