ANNA (OBACH) WESLEY (nee HUEWYN) Peacefully on April 24, 2002 at Concordia Hospital, Anna passed away at the age of 85 years. She leaves to cherish her, in loving memory, her daughter Elsie (Bill Shymanski) and their children, William (and friend Lana), Kathryn (David Borys), Mark (Jenn), Jill (Gus Aggelopoulos), and Candace (Doug Daher) and her son Tommie Obach (Diane) and their children, Gregory and Chris. She also leaves her treasured great-grandchildren, Matthew, Sam, and Anna Borys, Joseph and Peter Aggelopoulos, Jenna and Jacob Daher; her sisters, Mary Neally and Pauline Iles of Toronto, ON; sisters-in-law, Kay Huewan, Arborg, Victoria Huewan, Selkirk, and Helen Obach, Gimli. Her brothers, John, Mike and Bill Huewan; sister Stella Kowalchuk; her first husband Walter Obach (1966), and her second husband John Wesley (1973), predeceased Anna. Anna was the sixth child born to Andrew and Frosina Huewyn in Kruezberg (Fraserwood) in 1916. Some of her happy memories of her youth were her days at Cavendish School. She married Walter in 1934 and lived on a farm in Malonton at which time their two children were born. In 1945 they moved to Sudbury, ON and in 1955 they purchased Luschinskis General Store in Fraserwood. In 1968, Anna and John renewed their teen friendship and married. They lived in Whitehorse, YT, but Manitoba was home and they returned. Anna was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels, baked for church functions and was the first social convener for East Park Lodge. Granny was very gifted in sewing, knitting and many crafts. She took pleasure in sewing clothes for herself and all her granddaughters. Granny had quite a green thumb and passers-by would often comment on the beauty of her flower gardens. Family was important to her. While she was in her own home, she hosted all special family gatherings. She lived in East Park Lodge until her recent hospitalization. Her legacy to her grandchildren is her work ethic and dedication to family, church, friends and to anyone in need, young or old. Granny was always a person who could be counted on. Granny appreciated the care she received from the emergency personnel, nursing staff at Concordia Hospital and especially Dr. Loepp. The family wishes to thank them all for their consideration and care. Fr. E. Bonin will celebrate funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 425 Rousseau E., Transcona, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30. Viewing one-half hour before mass. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, four miles west of Fraserwood. A brief graveside service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Gilbart Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
