Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH GOERTZEN On Saturday, April 27, 2002, Ken passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness. He was predeceased by a sister and brother at a very young age. Ken grew up in Winkler where he was born and raised. He was employed at the garment factory before moving to Winnipeg and working as a C.N. train operator until he became a Rail Traffic Controller. After 24 years of service he was forced to retire due to lung and heart problems. After retiring he enjoyed travelling to various U.S. locations and the Maritime provinces. But mostly he enjoyed relaxing at the cottage in Alcona, ON (near Sioux Lookout). Ken is survived by his wife Betty (nee McCord), they shared 17 1/2 wonderful years together. Also left to mourn are Kens parents, Katherine and Jake Goertzen; his step-children, Debbie Hamar of Winnipeg, Vicki Colombe (Michael) of Sioux Lookout, Ken Lisenchuk of Inuvik, NT, and Greg Lisenchuk (Mandy) of Edmonton; many aunts, uncles and cousins and good friends. Ken will be lovingly remembered by all of his family and will be very sadly missed. Many thanks to Dr. Marc Susser for the very complex treatment and care that he gave to Ken. In keeping with Kens wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel, 401 Henderson (at Bowman) on Monday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m. Service will terminate at the Citadel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 and/or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
