JAMES FREDERICT BARTLEY James Frederict Bartley, aged 80 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2002 at the Beausejour District Hospital. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, James (Cheryl) of Garson, Darryl of Selkirk and Kim (Derek) Pastetnik of Lockport; grandchildren, Jordan, Brandi-Lee, James, John and Stratton; his sisters, Emma Huck and Elsie McKenzie and his brother John Bartley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Vilma in 1994; his brother Harvey in 2000; and his parents, James and Jane. James was born in Whitemouth 1921 and was raised in Culver where he worked on the railway until he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1941. He served overseas for five years, before being honourably discharged in 1946. He then worked in Labrador as a heavy duty mechanic. He met his wife at Crow Duck Lake Lodge in 1960 and they were married shortly after. He then worked for the Department of Highways as a crusher foreman and then as a work supervisor until his retirement in 1986. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also maintained a registered trapline in the Whiteshell throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed gardening and spending his spare time with his friends, family and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ross United Church, Whitemouth, MB with Rev. Ann Cook officiating.
