FRANCES STOYKO Peacefully, with her family by her side, on Saturday, April 27, 2002, Frances Stoyko passed away at the Holy Family Nursing Home at the age of 98 years. Frances was predeceased by her husband Hnat Stoyko in 1975. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Fred (Mary) Stoyko, Stella (John) Horaski and Bill (Helen) Stoyko; 11 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Frances was born in Poland where she met Hnat. They were married in 1922 and had three children. They immigrated to Canada in 1936 and settled in East Dale where they broke the land and raised their children. Mom enjoyed gardening, cooking and picking mushrooms. She looked forward to her family coming home for Sunday dinners. In 1979 she moved to Winnipeg to a seniors home where she enjoyed going shopping and playing bingo with her sister-in-law Molly. In 1991 she moved to Holy Family Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the staff and sisters at the Sacred Heart 2A wing of the Holy Family Nursing Home for the compassionate care they showed Frances over the past 11 years. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so wish, donations may be made in Frances memory to the Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave. R2W 1T9 or a charity of ones choice. Prayers will be on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bannerman at Arlington with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment will follow in the East Dale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ray Stoyko, John Stoyko, Brian Stoyko, Terry Horaski, John Horaski and Ken Armistead.
