MICHAEL LORN BOYKO Michael Lorn Boyko, 49 years of age, passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, April 27, 2002, after a short but intense struggle with Leukemia. He leaves behind his beloved wife Carol, whom he married on May 19, 1973; and their daughters, Briar and Bevin. Lorn is survived by his mother Jennie Boyko; brother Murray Gregg (Debbie) sister Lorenda (Larry Chin) and brother Vince. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Sheila Bennett; by sisters-in-law, Glennis (Don Wilkinson), Sherill (Ron Zellis) and brother-in-law, Brian Bennett; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Lorn was predeceased by his father Michael and sister-in-law Sharon. Lorn was a very quiet, patient and caring man who enjoyed being with his family. He enjoyed many camping trips with family and fishing adventures with his friends and co-workers. Lorn was active within the community through his involvement with Governor Semple parent council, and the Girl Guides. He enjoyed many hobbies and sports. Lorn started working for the City of Winnipeg in 1974. In 1976, he transferred to the Fire Department. Lorn was well liked and respected for his honesty, integrity and values. Those who had the chance to know him will miss him deeply. The family wishes to thank friends and co-workers for their support through this difficult time, with special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the M.I.C.U. and CancerCare who provided wonderful care. His wife and family wish to invite you to a service celebrating Lorns life, which will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Chapel, 324 Logan Ave., with Chaplains Rick Cieciwa and Paul Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Briar and Bevin Boyko Educational Trust Fund, (Civic Credit Union, 433 Main St.), Fire Fighters Burn Fund, CancerCare Manitoba, or H.S.C. - M.I.C.U.
