ANDY BRUCE It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the peaceful passing of Andy Bruce, surrounded by his loving family. A loved father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He died on Saturday, April 27, 2002 in Winnipeg, his place of birth and home for his entire 83 years. He is survived by his wife and best friend for the last 54 years Lee; and his sons, Donald (Pat) and Craig (Bob). He will always be remembered by his grandchildren, Marcie (Kent), Ryan (Tannis), Dean (Adrienne) great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Riley, Zachary, Tyson; as well as two sisters and brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by "Tillie", the family pet, whose favourite spot was resting on Andys knees. Andy was a local star hockey and soccer player. He was a soldier and veteran, member of Legion 164 Lac du Bonnet Manitoba, and served his country well. Andy worked for the Winnipeg Fire Department, for over 30 years, until he retired in 1980 as a District Chief. He ended his career admired, appreciated and then spent the next 18 years at his cottage he so loved, in Lac du Bonnet, MB. Andy and three other gentlemen started the senior mens curling league in Lac du Bonnet, which is still going strong today. He was a warm, kind, generous, caring man who loved to entertain and welcome everyone into his home. Best of all was his quick wit and funny sense of humour that remained with him until his passing. He loved to make others happy. Andy Bruce was a loyal and loving husband who had no regrets and lived his life to the fullest. Even though we feel so much loss with his passing, his love for all of us remains in our hearts and memories for generations to come. Andys memorial service will be held in the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, with Rev. Michael Wilson officiating. Our family extends special thanks to the entire staff, particularly nurses and aids at station 3 in the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Andys memory may be made to the Fire Fighters Burn Fund Inc., 202-666 St. James St., Winnipeg, MB, R3G 3J6.
