Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD M. GRETCHEN Beloved husband and father, left this world to be with his Father in Heaven, April 29, 2002. He was 71. Don was born May 27, 1930 in Winnipeg to Dan and Elsa Gretchen. He worked at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg for many years and then worked for CN Railroad until his retirement. He loved collectibles, coins, and antiques and he had a booth at the Winnipeg Flea Market Co-Op, where he loved selling his treasures and talking to the people who came by. He loved making summer trips to Michigan to visit his family and scavenge for something different for his booth. He was married to Elizabeth Ann (Colburn) Gorig June 4, 1975 in Scottville, MI. With this union, he inherited an instant family of three teenage daughters. A year later, his son was born, the proudest moment of Dons life. He was the best father anyone could ever ask for. He was a kind, gentle and thoughtful man, and he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his wife Elizabeth (Betty) three daughters, Linda (William) Lawson of Corunna, MI, Lori (Kevin) Toner of Edmonton, AB and Mary (Robert) Huggard of Scottville, MI; one son Thomas Gretchen of Winnipeg; six grandchildren, Diana and Steven Thom, Nicole and Jonathan Huggard and Kieran and Kwynn Toner; and one great-grandson Seth Cohoon. He also leaves behind many special friends, including Darrel Thom and Katrina Senyk, along with his beloved dog Princess and cat Frosty. Those whose lives he touched, all loved him and will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his beloved Auntie Ann Siatecki and his uncle Alex Gretchen. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1 from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m., also at the Chapel. Interment will follow. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Dons memory to a charity of your choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
