HONOURABLE ROGER TEILLET, P.C. Grand-nephew of Louis Riel and descendant of Marie-Anne Gaboury and Jean-Baptiste Lagimodiere. Passed away in Ottawa, ON on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at the age of 89. He was a Knights of Columbus member, a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, Navigator of Halifax Bomber. He was shot down during a mission in August 1942. He was a member of the Silk Caterpillar Club and member of the Escapees Society. He was a prisoner of war, Stalag Luft III until 1945. He was elected member of the Manitoba Legislature Assembly 1953-1959, elected member of Federal Parliament 1962-1968, named Minister of Veterans Affairs 1963-1968, at the Privy Council and at the Canadian Pension Commission 1968-1978. Beloved husband of the late Jeanne Boux. Dear son of the late Camille Teillet and the late Sara Riel. Dear father of Philippe Martin Teillet (Elaine Louis Meyer) and Richard Etienne Teillet. Loving grandfather of Lisa Gabrielle Teillet of Toronto and Sara Kirsten Teillet of Ottawa. Dear brother of Marie-France (Teillet) DeJong, Marie Thorimbert (Teillet), Joseph Teillet, Yolande Shick (Teillet) and Edmond Teillet. Predeceased by sisters, Eleonore (Teillet) Aubertin, Pauline (Teillet) Chabot and brothers, Louis, Heliodore and Camille Teillet. A memorial service will be celebrated in St. Boniface in the near future. They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
