LYDIA "LILLIAN" TAUBENSEE Lydia "Lillian" Taubensee, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, May 2, 2002, at the age of 83. She was born on June 19, 1918, in Winnipeg, where she attended school and married Jack Rempel in 1939. They settled in River Hills, where four children were born. When left to raise her young family on her own, she served as village postmistress and farm implement parts dealer. In 1957 the family moved to Morris where she owned and operated Lils Ladies, Mens and Childrens wear. She married John Taubensee in 1966 and they spent many years on Niakwa Road in Winnipeg. Following Johns death in 1995, she moved into Meadowood Manor seniors apartment where she lived with enthusiasm until the morning of May 2 when she slipped away quickly after a time of light exercise and coffee with her many friends in the Manor. Lillian will always be remembered for her courageous faith and her friendly and forgiving spirit. Many were blessed with her afghans. All who knew her had pleasure of tea with doughnuts, kuchen, and birthday cake. Lillian lived well and loved well. She will be dearly missed by her children, Connie and Ken Schroeder (Jennifer and Colin Spilak of Philadelphia), Elaine and Melvin Edel (Byron and Lauren Edel, Melanie, Krista Lynn, and Jessica; Douglas and Rosalyn Edel; Darryl and Shannon Edel and Gena; Wayne and Andrea Edel; Gary Edel and Maggie Smith and Kelsey), Allan and Dianne Rempel (Keith and Angel Rempel and Meghan; Marlene Rempel; Dawn Rempel and Phillip Rempel) Judy and Larry Brown (Perry and Claudia Brown and Denise and Ulisses Carrate, all of Brazil). She was further blessed with and leaves to mourn her step-family, John and Gertrude Taubensee (Mona Taubensee; Susan Taubensee and Georges Sourisseau; Joanne and Brent Pooles and family; Carolin Taubensee and Randy Kohuch and family), Irma and Jim Balli (Mark Nikel and Beverley Wilson and family; Sabrina Nikel and Joseph Koziak and family; Quinn and Maureen Nikel and family) and Darren and Wendy Lucas and family. She also leaves to mourn her sister Florence Schwartz and brother Edward and Shirley Tyderkie and many dear nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Pauline Tyderkie; her first husband, Jack Rempel; her husband John Taubensee; her sister Duneda and brother-in-law William McLeod; her brother-in-law Walter Schwartz; her step-daughter Ruby and husband, Burns Lucas. She will also be sadly missed by her many dear friends and the staff at Meadowood where she enjoyed times of fellowship, Bible study, church and many social activities. The family wishes to thank Pastor Edward and Mrs. Helga Hamm and the staff at Meadowood for their faithful support and encouragement of our mother. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway 1 East at Navin Road. Memorial gifts may be made to Meadowood Manor Chapel Fund (Lillians favourite cause) or to a charity of ones choice. God took the fragrance of a flower The majesty of a tree The gentleness of morning dew The calm of a quiet sea God took the beauty of the twilight hour The soul of a starry night The laughter of the rippling brook The grace of a bird in flight The tender care of an angel The faith of the mustard seed The patience of eternity The depth of a familys need Then God fashioned from these things A creation like no other And when His masterpiece was through He simply called it Mother.
