THOMAS ALEXANDER BRUCE November 11, 1921 - May 2, 2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing our our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Thomas Alexander Bruce. Dad suddenly went to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2002. Dad was predeceased by his mother and father, Walter and Mary Bruce; brothers, Allan and Norman; and sisters, Christie, Winifred, Lizzie, Elsie and Nancy. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Mary; children, Earl, Wally, Brenda, (Jeff), son-in-law, Bob, Kevin (Corinna), Curtis (Una), Nick, Terry (Tamara) and Louie (Shelley) grandchildren, James, Pamela, April, Clara, Trinity, K.C., Chrissy, Janine, Sharmane, Shyanne, Adam, Alex, Talon, Raine and Caratess; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Dad was born on November 11, 1921 in Loon Straits, MB, where he spent most of his early years there before marrying his beloved Mary (Simard) in 1948. Together they moved to Pine Dock, Little Bullhead. MB, where he and his two eldest sons helped build his home where he resided until his untimely passing. He started out as a commercial fisherman, then pursued his passion for hunting, trapping and gardening. Dad provided well for his family through the fruits of his labour. After his retirement he worked with forestries as a fire foreman. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour and love for the Red River Jig. His favourite place was Daves Lake, where he was often found hunting and trapping or resting by the birch trees drinking his campfire tea. He always had a story of his numerous hunting and trapping expeditions. He was also known for his berry picking, gardening, canning and preserving. He always had a freezer full of his garden vegetables and wild game. Pallbearers will be his sons, Earl, Wally, Nick, Louie, Terry and Curtis. Honorary pallbearers will be son Kevin, grandsons, James, Trin and K.C., nephew Kenny Mowatt and Bob Sigurdson, Franklin Lea, Michael Monkman and Donnie Magnusson. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. Funeral services will be held in the Pine Dock Community Hall on Wednesday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m., with Paster Neill von Gunten officiating. Interment will follow in the Community Cemetery. Please join us for Dads final journey. We love you Dad, until we meet again on a peaceful, happy shore. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
