Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVALERIE A. DENCHUK It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Val, beloved spouse, daughter, and sister, on May 6, 2002 at the Victoria General Hospital. Val was predeceased by her father Robert in 1968. She is survived by her husband Larry; sister Carol; and mother Margaret. Val grew up in St. James on Moray Street and graduated from Silver Heights Collegiate. After living and working in Europe for a year Val returned home and started her career. An early and one of her favourite jobs was as Promotions Director at Assiniboia Downs. From there she went on to work in hotel sales and spent several years at the Birchwood Inn. In 1989 Val started at Great West Life in their U.S. Investments Division. In 1993 she moved to Corporate Properties and later became a lease administrator. Val loved the time she spent as a Winnipeg Jets Hostess and made many long lasting friendships with the gals from B.A.G.S. Val enjoyed summer days out in her backyard gardening or just reading by the pool. She loved to travel and did a lot with her husband. Aruba will always hold a special place in her heart. Val packed a lot of living into her short life and will be greatly missed by her husband and best friend. Sincere thanks to the 4th floor staff at the Victoria Hospital, especially nurses Ann Marie, Janet, Cheryl and Sandra. Their professional and compassionate care allowed Val to pass peacefully and with her dignity. A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Manitoba Lupus Society, 105-386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3R6. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
