HERBERT (HARRY) PEITSCH 1912 - 2002 With his family by his side, Harry Peitsch aged 90 years, of Beausejour, MB passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2002 at the Beausejour Hospital. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his children, Audrey and husband Bruce Barton of Ile des Chenes, MB and their children, Aaron and Corrina; Karen and husband Ian Gray of Edmonton, and their daughter Rachel; Maureen and husband Jared Paisley of Winnipeg; Neil and wife Susan of St. Ouens, MB. He is survived by one brother and four sisters. He was predeceased by his wife Luise in 1983. Harry was born in the Peitsch family home in Green Bay, MB, the eighth child of a family of 15 children. He farmed all his life in the Beausejour area, and lived in St. Ouens for over 50 years. During the Great Depression of the 1930s, Harry spent winters working in the bush to help support his parents and siblings. In the summer, he "jumped" the freight trains to find work picking fruit in B.C. He worked at the Seven Sisters dam and at a large farming operation (with forty workhorses) in Meadows, MB. He began farming with his brother Charlie in the 1940s. The brothers hard work and commitment enabled them to each purchase their own operation by 1949. In 1950, Harry married Luise Konzelman, and moved to the St. Ouens farm. Over the years, with Luise and his children by his side, he transformed the farmhouse into a home, and continued to expand his farming operation. Luises passing in 1983 was a very difficult time for Harry, but eventually, he began to develop new friendships in the community. With the help of NEHA Home Care he lived on his farm until November 2000. Harry was a man of patience, kindness and steadfastness; a man of unwavering faith. He loved his family with all his heart and had a rich and full life. Many thanks to NEHA Home Care for being Dads "care family"; we are truly grateful for all you have done. Thank you to Dr. Morgan, Dr. Cordor, Beausejour Hospital staff, Palliative Care Volunteer, Lorna Erikson, and especially nurses Bev and Mary Jane. Finally, thank you Vicar Borchardt for the comfort you gave Dad; you were there when he needed you. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 418 Gertrude Ave., Beausejour, MB with Vicar Harold Borchardt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harrys memory to Grace Lutheran Church, Box 538 Beausejour, MB or to Home Care, North Eastman Health Association (NEHA), Primary Care Ctr., Box 550, Beausejour, MB, R0E 0C0.
